A Chef oversees food preparation and directs other cooks and kitchen staff. Plans menus, develops recipes, orders ingredients and supplies. May supervise kitchen operations in a restaurant or work for a private household; may work for an executive office or a client that entertains regularly.
Private estate, situated on the North Shore of Long Island, seeks an experienced Private Chef providing meal preparation and shopping for an active, multi-generational family on a large estate. The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and a refined understanding of luxury service in a private household setting.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Point person and manager for all food service, stocking, purchasing, and planning for the residence Prepare and present meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks) for the family and guests as requested Lead some special events held at the residence from small to mid-sized dinner parties Provide weekly menus for employers that meet the owner's dietary needs and restrictions Keep running record of favorite meals and recipes Accommodate last-minute schedule changes and special requests with grace and efficiency Work continuously on new recipes and repertoire Work as part of a residence team Manage all aspects of the kitchen
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years' experience as a private chef for UHNW individuals or in a fine dining establishment Proven knowledge of various cuisines (e.g., Kosher, Mediterranean, plant-based, gluten-free, etc.) Must have a clean driving record Will be open to feedback and improvements overall; flexible, collaborative, and amiable style Upbeat and transparent personality a must Must hold the utmost discretion and confidentiality standards Flexible schedule and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
