Job Description

Who We Are:
Aliveness Project is a community center for people living with HIV. We serve over 5,000 folks annually, the majority of whom are low-income. The Aliveness Project boldly advances equitable access to transformative HIV care and prevention. Our primary objectives are to ensure that our members have access to: Basic needs: We provide meals, a food shelf, and medical nutrition therapy while our Case Management team helps provide access to healthcare and housing.
Community:
Our community center model provides a safe and supportive place for members to gather and build community.
Prevention:
We provide a community-based PrEP/STD Clinic, pharmacy, and targeted outreach to communities disproportionately affected by HIV through education, awareness, and strategies for eliminating stigma. Member Experience Manager Job Summary:
The Member Liaison focuses on maintaining a warm, welcoming, and safe(r) space for people living with and at risk for HIV at Aliveness Project. Many of the people we serve struggle with poverty and behavioral health challenges, so this is a role for someone who truly enjoys working with people to meet basic needs and build community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Be onsite and available during operating hours Assist in preparing and unlocking the doors for service each day, as well as clearing the building and locking up at close Walk through building regularly to monitor and offer proactive intervention as needed (resource referrals, friendly reminders of policies and expectations, etc.) Handle crises with back-up from other staff as needed Incidents range from small issues (complaints, verbal disputes, lost or stolen items) to emergencies (urgent health situations, fights, weapons) Member Liaison may need to compassionately walk people out for the day Ensure incidents are documented and communicated appropriately Welcome and engage members and visitors by giving tours and linking to internal and external resources/referrals Provide a compassionate ear to people and their life challenges Offer brief assistance to members with applications, technology, and other basic needs-related requests Fill in at the Front Desk Available to work Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm with occasional additional evening or weekend hours Participate in staff meetings, regular supervision and organization wide efforts as requested Other duties related to the role as assigned. Education, Skills, Abilities, and/or
Experience Requirements:
High School diploma or GED preferred At least 2 years customer service experience; social services or security experience is a plus Knowledge of and sensitivity to HIV/AIDS and experience working with people living with HIV Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook CPR and first-aid training (or willingness to participate in training paid for by employer) Respect for HIPAA-protected member information and ability to maintain confidentiality Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable in large group settings Ability to remain calm and diplomatic while firmly enforcing policies Experienced in de-escalation techniques Ability to act quickly and assertively in crisis situations to take charge and problemsolve Familiarity working in diverse communities, specifically LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and immigrant communities Knowledge of harm reduction principles around mental health, substance use, and other challenges Fluency in Spanish preferred Commitment to Aliveness' mission of HIV education, prevention and destigmatization Compensation Salary range is $46,000 to $51,000 based on experience.
