Job Description
Job Summary The Part-Time Desk Attendant serves as the first point of contact for visitors to the Elkton Area Community Center. This position provides friendly and professional customer service, assists members and guests, manages front desk operations, handles membership sales, assists with facility and shelter rentals, and provides general support for community programs and special events. Light cleaning and upkeep of the facility are also part of this position to help maintain a welcoming environment.
Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. Other duties may be required and assigned.- Greet and assist members, guests, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Process membership sales, renewals, and daily admissions using the point-of-sale system.
- Provide information about community center amenities, programs, schedules, and upcoming events.
- Assist with facility and shelter rental inquiries, bookings, and payment processing.
- Maintain accurate records of transactions and membership data.
- Assist staff with setup and cleanup for programs, rentals, and special events.
- Perform light cleaning duties including wiping counters, vacuuming lobby areas, cleaning glass doors, and restocking supplies as needed.
- Enforce facility policies and safety procedures to ensure a positive and safe experience for all users.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous customer service or front desk experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills and ability to handle cash transactions.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be reliable, courteous, and able to maintain a positive attitude.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Working Conditions
- This position operates primarily in a community center environment with frequent interaction with the public. Some light physical activity such as cleaning, lifting up to 25 pounds, and setting up tables or chairs may be required.
