Job Description
Valley Fresh is looking for a dependable and experienced Cook to join our kitchen team. This position plays an important role in preparing fresh, flavorful, high-quality food for our customers while maintaining the standards of quality, cleanliness, and customer service that Valley Fresh is known for. Our kitchen is a fast-paced environment where teamwork, consistency, organization, and attention to detail matter. The ideal candidate takes pride in their food, works well with others, and understands the importance of proper food preparation, presentation, sanitation, and food safety. Responsibilities Prepare and cook a variety of fresh foods according to Valley Fresh recipes, production needs, and quality standards. Prepare items for our hot case, grab-and-go department, catering orders, and other prepared-food programs. Follow established recipes, portion sizes, cooking procedures, and presentation standards to maintain consistency. Safely operate commercial kitchen equipment including ovens, stovetops, grills, fryers, slicers, mixers, knives, and other kitchen equipment. Monitor cooking, cooling, reheating, and holding temperatures to ensure all food meets food-safety requirements. Properly label, date, rotate, store, and handle food products according to FIFO and food-safety standards. Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized workstation throughout the shift. Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, preparation areas, and work surfaces as required. Assist with daily food production and communicate with kitchen leadership regarding product needs, shortages, or preparation priorities. Help minimize food waste through proper preparation, portioning, storage, and rotation. Assist with catering orders, special events, seasonal items, and large-volume food preparation as needed. Work closely with other kitchen, deli, and store team members to ensure products are prepared accurately and available for our customers. Maintain a positive, professional attitude and contribute to a respectful and team-oriented workplace. Follow all Valley Fresh policies as well as local, state, and federal food-safety and sanitation requirements. Requirements Previous cooking or commercial food-service experience is strongly preferred. Grocery store kitchen, restaurant, deli, catering, or similar high-volume food preparation experience is a plus. Knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, temperature control, and food-storage procedures. Ability to follow recipes and production instructions accurately and consistently. Comfortable working with commercial kitchen equipment and knives. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and cleanliness. Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Strong communication skills and willingness to assist wherever needed. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties associated with a commercial kitchen, including lifting, bending, reaching, and carrying products and equipment. Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs. Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain certification as required. Why Valley Fresh? Pay:
