Job Description

Valley Lodge Tavern is looking for experienced, reliable, and detail-oriented Line Cooks to join our back-of-house team. As a neighborhood staple known for quality comfort fare, classic tavern specialties, and high-volume service, we take pride in running a clean, organized, and positive kitchen environment. Key Responsibilities Set up, stock, and maintain cook stations with necessary prep and equipment before and during service. Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to established tavern recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards. Execute high-volume service efficiently while maintaining consistent quality and ticket times. Adhere strictly to food safety, sanitation, and temperature control standards. Maintain kitchen cleanliness, workstation sanitation, and follow daily opening, transition, and closing checklists. Communicate clearly and professionally with fellow line cooks, dishwashers, expediters, and front-of-house staff. Qualifications & Requirements 1-2+ years of prior line cook experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant. Strong working knowledge of kitchen equipment, standard cooking techniques (grill, sauté, fry), and knife skills. Valid Illinois Food Handler or ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Ability to work efficiently on your feet for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Team-oriented mindset, strong communication skills, and punctuality. Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays (adherence to team holiday scheduling/blackout date guidelines required). What We Offer Competitive, reliable hourly pay.
