Job Description

Job Summary Bloomfield Open Hunt is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Garde Manger Cook to join our Culinary Team. The Garde Manger Cook is responsible for the preparation and execution of high-quality cold food preparations, including composed salads, appetizers, charcuterie, sandwiches, desserts, garnishes, and specialty items for daily dining service, private events, and member functions. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, and capable of working independently while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, and presentation. This position requires a strong understanding of classical garde manger techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to contribute to an elevated dining experience in a private club environment. Basic baking and pastry skills are expected. The successful candidate should be comfortable preparing dessert components, baked goods, and other pastry-related items that support daily service and special events. Responsibilities Prepare and execute garde manger menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards. Prepare salads, cold appetizers, charcuterie, sandwiches, hors d'oeuvres, desserts, garnishes, and specialty items. Execute basic baking and pastry preparations, including dessert components and baked goods as needed. Set up, stock, and maintain the garde manger station before, during, and after service. Assist with preparation and execution of private events, banquets, and specialty functions. Maintain proper food handling, storage, labeling, and rotation procedures. Ensure all food is prepared with consistency, quality, and attention to presentation. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation in accordance with food safety standards. Communicate effectively with the Executive Chef, Sous Chefs, and culinary team to ensure efficient service. Assist with daily kitchen operations and perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of 2-3 years of professional kitchen experience preferred. Previous experience in fine dining, upscale casual dining, or private club operations preferred. Strong knowledge of garde manger techniques and cold food preparation. Basic baking and pastry skills required, including familiarity with doughs, batters, creams, custards, and dessert preparation. Ability to work independently while maintaining organization and attention to detail. Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
