POSITION SUMMARY
This position is primarily responsible for preparing food for the students and staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Uses all kitchen equipment in a safe, proper, and efficient way. Maintains the highest standards of safety, food safety, and cleanliness in the kitchen. Serves all students in an efficient, food safe and hospitable manner. Ensures the appropriate portion size to meet state requirements. Follow all food safety guidelines. Shows proper use of thermometers to ensure all foods are served at a safe food temperature. Prepares food according to a planned menu and recipes. Ensures finished product is of the best quality both in flavor and appearance before it is served. Accurately completes a daily production record. Reports to the kitchen manager any faulty or inferior quality food received Assists in the unloading and putting away of all food deliveries. Completes daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment, and facilities to include sweeping & mopping.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Previous experience working in the food industry is preferred. Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students Excellent organizational, time management and mult-tasking skills Must be able to lift and carry 40lbs. Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time. Must be able to stoop and bend over. Must be able to reach overhead. Must be able to read labels, instructions and follow recipes.
