Overview Join our First United Methodist Church Child Development Center team as a part-time Cook, where your culinary skills will play a vital role in nurturing young minds through nutritious, delicious meals. This energetic position offers preparing food with precision, and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for children. Your culinary expertise will directly contribute to the well-being and happiness of our young learners, making each mealtime an enjoyable and healthy experience. Experience with
CACFP/USDA
program would be a plus. Duties Prepare and cook meals using food safety sanitizing procedures, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Operate kitchen equipment efficiently and safely, including ovens, grills, poaching, braising, and other cooking appliances. Handle food production for high-volume meal service, adhering strictly to recipes and portion controls. Ensure proper food handling practices are followed at all times to promote safety and prevent contamination. Maintain accurate records of food inventory, storage conditions, and sanitation procedures. Collaborate with staff to coordinate meal times and assist with serving meals in a friendly, professional manner. Skills Proven experience as a dietary aide or in a similar food preparation role within childcare or educational settings. Knowledge of food safety management practices including sanitizing procedures and safe food handling protocols. Ability to follow recipes precisely while adapting to dietary restrictions or special requests.
