A Cook prepares food in a restaurant or institutional kitchen. May be responsible for a specific station or type of food preparation in a larger kitchen, or specialize as a short-order or fast-food cook. May prepare meals in private homes, or cater parties.
Long Beach Coffee & Tee is looking for a talented and energetic Short Order Cook & Prep to join our back-of-house kitchen team in Long Beach, NY! Laid back and chill atmosphere with a small menu of high-quality food items, cooked in Turbo Chef and convection ovens. No grill, fry, or stovetop work. Applicants must be comfortable reading tickets in English and able to follow instruction and learn the processes and systems in place. Owners are chill but they do have clear expectations which will be laid out in training.
Responsibilities:
Execute short order cooking including breakfast, lunch, and café-style menu items with speed and consistency Perform daily prep work including chopping, slicing, portioning, and mise en place Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout each shift Follow recipes, portion guidelines, and plating standards to ensure food quality Monitor food inventory, rotate stock, and communicate supply needs to management Adhere to all food safety and health code regulations Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and timely ticket flow
Requirements:
Prior experience as a short order cook, line cook, or kitchen prep cook preferred Communicate shortages or needs to the team general food prep knowledge Understanding of food safety standards and proper sanitation practices Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs Food handler certification a plus
