Job Overview Overview Join our team as a Cook dedicated to serving preschool-aged children within our Head Start Program! This vital role involves preparing nutritious, appealing meals that support early childhood development and promote healthy eating habits. You will be responsible for creating balanced menus, ensuring food safety standards are met, and providing a warm, welcoming dining experience for young learners. Bring your culinary expertise and passion for child nutrition to make a meaningful difference in our community's youngest members' lives. Responsibilities Assist with food preparation, including chopping, mixing, and assembling ingredients according to recipes and menu specifications Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, ovens, poachers, braising units, and food production machinery Follow strict food safety sanitizing procedures to maintain a clean and hygienic work environment Support menu planning by preparing ingredients for daily meal service and special catering events Handle food with care, adhering to proper food handling techniques to ensure quality and safety Contribute to high-volume food production while maintaining consistency and presentation standards Assist with food service operations, including plating dishes and ensuring timely delivery to guests or dining areas Experience Previous dietary aide experience or background in food service is highly preferred Familiarity with menu planning, recipe adherence, and culinary techniques such as grilling, braising, poaching, and food preparation Experience working in fine dining or restaurant environments demonstrating excellent knife skills and culinary craftsmanship Knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures in commercial kitchens Proven ability to operate kitchen equipment safely in high-volume settings Strong understanding of food industry standards related to food handling, catering, and meal preparation Prior experience in dietary departments or healthcare settings is a plus but not required Servsafe Join us if you're eager to grow your culinary skills while delivering top-quality meals in a vibrant team setting.
