Dishwasher / Porter Firstborn Restaurant is seeking a hard-working, reliable, and team-oriented Dishwasher / Porter to join our culinary operations. Responsibilities:
Sanitation & Dishwashing:
Operate commercial dishwashing machines and wash delicate items (cookware, large pots, fine china) by hand according to established food safety and health department codes.
Organization & Stacking:
Properly sort, stack, and restock clean dishes, glassware, and utensils to their designated stations in both the front and back of house.
Facility Maintenance:
Maintain high sanitation standards across the back of house by regularly sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning mats, and sanitizing prep tables, coolers, and walk-ins.
Waste Management:
Monitor and empty trash, recycling, and compost bins regularly throughout the shift; break down delivery boxes to keep paths clear and safe.
Team Support:
Assist the culinary team with basic prep work (e.g., peeling vegetables) and help unload or stock incoming inventory deliveries when required.
Equipment Monitoring:
Chemically test and monitor dish machine performance, reporting any mechanical failures or low chemical levels to management immediately.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Experience:
Prior experience as a dishwasher or porter in a high-volume restaurant or hospitality environment is preferred, but we are fully willing to train individuals with a strong work ethic.
Stamina & Physical Ability:
Must be able to stand, bend, and move continuously for the duration of an 8-10 hour shift and comfortably lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
Environment Comfort:
Ability to work safely and efficiently in a hot, humid, fast-paced environment around commercial chemicals and wet, slippery surfaces.
Schedule Flexibility:
Open availability to work a flexible schedule, including late nights, weekends, and holidays based on business volume.
Communication:
Ability to follow multi-step instructions, read basic labels, and communicate clearly with both kitchen staff and management.
