About Us La Strega Bistro is a distinguished restaurant dedicated to delivering an exceptional dining experience inspired by authentic Italian traditions. We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and team-oriented Prep Cook / Dishwasher to join our kitchen team. This position is an important part of our daily kitchen operations and will support both food preparation and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. The Prep Cook / Dishwasher will assist the kitchen team with daily food preparation while also being responsible for washing dishes, cleaning kitchen equipment, and maintaining a sanitary and organized work environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, works well in a fast-paced environment, pays attention to detail, and is willing to help wherever needed to support the kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities Food Preparation:
Assist with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, chopping, portioning, and preparing ingredients.
Kitchen Support:
Prepare ingredients and supplies needed for daily kitchen operations and service.
Dishwashing:
Wash and sanitize dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
Cleaning & Sanitation:
Maintain clean and sanitary work areas, floors, sinks, and kitchen equipment.
Organization:
Keep food preparation areas, storage areas, and dishwashing stations organized and properly stocked.
Food Storage:
Assist with properly storing ingredients and maintaining organized refrigeration and storage areas.
Waste Management:
Properly dispose of kitchen waste and maintain clean trash and recycling areas.
Team Support:
Assist Line Cooks, Lead Cooks, and the Chef with kitchen tasks as needed.
Opening & Closing:
Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties, including cleaning, organizing, and preparing the kitchen for the next shift.
Food Safety:
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures.
Maintain Cleanliness:
Ensure dishes and kitchen equipment are consistently cleaned and available when needed during service. Qualifications Previous restaurant or kitchen experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate . Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical kitchen duties. Ability to lift and carry kitchen supplies when necessary. Strong attention to cleanliness and organization. Reliable, punctual, and responsible. Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team. Positive attitude and strong work ethic. Ability to work efficiently under pressure. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards is a plus. Bilingual skills preferred. Preferred Skills Previous experience as a Prep Cook, Dishwasher, Kitchen Helper, or similar position. Basic knowledge of food preparation and knife skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities. Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace. Willingness to learn and take on additional kitchen responsibilities. Team-oriented attitude and willingness to assist coworkers.
