The Gather Company is seeking an Assistant Innkeeper to help create an exceptional guest experience at Foster Harris House , our intimate five-room inn in the heart of Washington, Virginia. This is a hands-on hospitality position for someone who enjoys the variety and personal connection of a small bed & breakfast environment. From preparing and serving a memorable breakfast to ensuring guest rooms are beautifully presented, the Assistant Innkeeper plays an essential role in the daily operation of the inn. As Assistant Innkeeper at Foster Harris House, you'll help bring our mission of thoughtful hospitality to life by: Preparing and presenting breakfast for our guests , including hot breakfast items, fruit, pastries, coffee, and other morning offerings Managing breakfast setup, service, clearing, and kitchen cleanup Cleaning and turning over guest rooms to established standards, including making beds, refreshing bathrooms, replacing linens and amenities, and preparing rooms for arriving guests Managing daily laundry and maintaining appropriate supplies of fresh linens and towels Maintaining clean, organized, and inviting dining areas, common spaces, and guest-facing areas throughout the inn Welcoming guests with genuine warmth and professionalism Preparing the inn for guest arrivals and departures Restocking guest amenities, housekeeping supplies, and breakfast items as needed Anticipating guest needs and responding thoughtfully when needs arise Working collaboratively with the Innkeeper to ensure smooth and consistent daily operations Background & Preferred Experience While we welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds, our ideal candidate brings: Experience with breakfast preparation, cooking, food service, or kitchen prep Previous experience in hospitality, housekeeping, food service, or a similar guest-facing environment Comfort preparing simple, attractive breakfast dishes and following established recipes and presentation standards The ability to independently clean and turn over guest rooms efficiently and with exceptional attention to detail Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage laundry, linens, and supplies Warm, natural communication skills with guests and colleagues A willingness to move comfortably between the kitchen, dining room, guest rooms, and other areas of the inn Comfort lifting up to 25 lbs and moving between levels of the inn Reliability, flexibility, and a natural sense of ownership A genuine interest in creating memorable experiences for guests At The Gather Company, our team is guided by key pillars that shape our daily work and guest experience: Guest Experience
