Position Status Full-time If Part Time, hours per week Posting Text Preferred Qualifications Two years of professional experience in an academic or business environment. Experience in event planning, promotion experience or the hospitality industry is highly desired. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Experience with Room Reservation Software. Experience with basic A/V equipment Experience in, or familiarity with higher education, fund-raising, and/or experience working with high-level executives is a plus. Job Specific Required Qualifications Working knowledge and proven experience working with an array of technology and software including Microsoft 365. Requires initiative and the ability to work under pressure while handling multiple projects accurately, independently, and productively, with extreme attention to detail. Ability to work in collaboration with staff, meet deadlines, and demonstrate aptitude in problem-solving and decision-making. A professional, can-do attitude and excellent communication skills. Ability to work flexible shifts required (early mornings, evenings, and/or weekend hours). Must be able to occasionally lift and move boxes weighing up to 40-50 pounds for various event needs. Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb ladders or step stools as required for event installation and decor setup. Ability to perform repetitive tasks using hands and arms, including assembling displays, hanging signage, arranging decor, and handling event equipment. Ability to load, unload, and transport event materials between storage areas, vehicles, and event locations. Ability to work in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor venues and event spaces. Ability to occasionally travel outside of the Flint area in Michigan. Posting Information Posting Number SP00487 Posting Date 08/13/2026 Closing Date Open Until Filled Yes Special Instructions to Applicants Job Duties Job Duties Percent of total time 50 Duties Serve as an integral part of the University Events & Ceremonies Team and assist with University events outside of primary responsibilities. Participate in debriefing meetings to assess what went well and where areas of improvement exist to ensure excellence and continuous improvement for Kettering events. Support the University Events & Ceremonies Planner and Director of Operations Administration as needed. Function as a resource and advisor to Kettering University departments, students, and external guests to assist them in planning successful meetings and events on campus. Assist with assigned events and facilitate food and beverage orders on behalf of the client Assist with the planning and execution of assigned events, including on and off-premise logistics, scheduling, sponsorship, production, coordination of staffing and volunteers, adherence to budget, service arrangements, etc. Develop, update, and meet detailed timelines for all events. Partner effectively with service providers to secure necessary services on campus and coordinate with outside service providers on behalf of the client; negotiate on behalf of the client Maintain event data and records, including event setup, budget tracking/reporting, participant registration, etc. Generate name badges, attendee reports, and take event reservations Percent of total time 35 Duties Assist with room reservations for internal and external clients Coordinate, monitor, and approve campus-wide non-academic room scheduling and room set-up activities; Generate and send event reports to key staff; Ensure all events are properly documented and approved in compliance with university policies and procedures; Coordinate room logistics with other university departments and support services. Percent of total time 15 Duties Work with IT and event lead departments to support A/V needs for various events across campus.
