Convention Supervisor

Job Description

The Great Hall Banquet & Convention Center is seeking a highly organized, energetic, and service driven Convention Supervisor to join our leadership team. This role is central to ensuring precise room setups, seamless event transitions, and exceptional guest experiences across all convention, meeting, and trade show functions. Position Overview The Convention Supervisor oversees all aspects of room setup, floorplan execution, equipment placement, and event ready preparation for conventions, meetings, expos, and corporate functions. This role requires strong spatial awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret and execute complex diagrams with accuracy. You will be responsible for ensuring every space is set to exact specification—tables, staging, AV equipment, décor, and traffic flow—while coordinating with internal departments to support smooth event operations and uphold Great Hall standards. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise convention setup teams during room preparation, transitions, and teardown Execute detailed room diagrams, layouts, and floorplans with precision Coordinate all convention related activities and ensure accurate communication of event requirements Oversee placement and safe handling of equipment such as staging, risers, pipe & drape, AV components, and specialty furniture Maintain strong relationships with sales, operations, and culinary departments Uphold service standards, guest satisfaction, and safety protocols Perform administrative tasks related to scheduling, inventory, equipment tracking, and event documentation Support hands on setup, including moving equipment, adjusting layouts, and troubleshooting room configurations Physical Requirements This is a physically demanding leadership role.
Candidates must be able to:
Stand and walk for extended periods Bend, squat, kneel, climb, and reach frequently Lift and move up to 50 lbs Work in fast paced, high volume environments Safely handle large equipment and navigate tight setup timelines
