To Be Determined Position Overview This part-time position is a unique hybrid role supporting two essential areas of museum operations: Collections and Events/Administration . The Collections & Events Assistant plays a key role in preserving Carteret County's history while helping ensure smooth daily operations and successful public programs. 1. Collections Assistant Responsibilities You will assist with the archiving, documentation, and care of the museum's collection.
Duties include:
Entering, updating, and maintaining records in PastPerfect Organizing, labeling, and preparing artifacts for storage or display Supporting long-term preservation efforts for museum materials Assisting with collections organization and general collections care as assigned 2. Events Assistant Responsibilities You will support daily museum operations and assist with events, programs, and community activities.
Duties include:
Greeting and interacting with visitors and the public Assisting with administrative tasks as assigned Event setup, event operations, and takedown - must be able to lift 50 lbs. Helping with logistics, materials, and volunteer coordination Adjusting your schedule when evening or special event hours are required Maintaining welcoming, clean, and organized exhibit and event spaces
Work Schedule & Hours Regular Schedule:
Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Includes a one-hour lunch break Standard weekly hours: 25 hours per week Additional hours may be approved when other duties are assigned Evening or special event hours will replace daytime hours as needed Compensation & Time Off Vacation and personal time may be requested and approved , but these hours are unpaid . Holidays follow the museum's operating schedule; holiday hours are unpaid .
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 25.0 - 30.0 per week
