Offsite Catering Event Captain Pearsons/Bevy Rochester, NY Job Details Part-time | Seasonal $26 an hour 14 hours ago Benefits Employee discount Qualifications Managing catering events Event planning time management Hospitality industry experience Banquet experience Organizational skills Leadership Full Job Description On-Call/ Part-Time | $26/hour | Rochester, NY We are seeking an experienced hospitality professional to join our offsite catering team as an Event Captain . Event frequency depends on the season and can range from 1-4 per month (Prime Months are June-December) This is an on-call position with no standing weekly restaurant schedule . Event Captains work select weddings, private events, corporate functions, and other catered events throughout Rochester primarily on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced restaurant, banquet, or catering professional looking for flexible event work without committing to a regular restaurant schedule. What You'll Do As Event Captain, you'll be the on-site FOH leader responsible for executing an established event plan from setup through breakdown.
Responsibilities include:
Work events as the primary FOH Lead on the caterer side Assist the culinary team onsite when needed Review event details and BEOs prior to assigned events Lead FOH setup and ensure the event is service-ready Conduct pre-service meetings with Culinary team Direct servers and support staff (When applicable) throughout the event Coordinate service timing with the culinary team Communicate professionally with venue and client contacts Troubleshoot normal event-day changes and service issues Maintain hospitality and service standards throughout the event Lead breakdown and ensure equipment and supplies are accounted for Provide a brief post-event recap to catering leadership What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who can confidently take ownership of day-of event execution without requiring constant supervision.
Ideal candidates have:
3+ years of restaurant, banquet, catering, or event-service experience Previous leadership experience as a Banquet Captain, Event Captain, Restaurant Manager, Catering Lead, Lead Server, or similar role Strong organizational and communication skills Experience directing FOH teams The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions when plans change Professional communication with guests, clients, venues, and team members Reliable transportation to offsite event locations Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday availability Schedule There is no standing weekly schedule . Events are communicated 1 month in advance and offered based on availability, as well as listed for the entire season. You can accept events that work with your schedule; once an event is accepted, we expect a firm commitment to that date. Event shifts typically include setup, service, and breakdown.
