Event Assistant

Job Description

The Event Assistant provides vital operational support across the Barn Studio and The Meshewa House at Turner Farm. Working closely with the Director of Events, this role bridges the gap between planning and execution by bringing event details to life on-site. The Assistant coordinates day-of operations, guides front-of-house staff, and oversees event logistics. In alignment with Turner Farm's mission, this position is crucial to delivering high-quality guest experiences while maintaining exceptional property stewardship and operational efficiency.
Event Execution & Coordination Organizational Relationship:
Reports to the Director of Events to turn event plans into seamless on-site experiences, also serving as a shared operational resource between the Barn Studio and Meshewa House. Lead Front-of-House (FOH): Run day-of operations for weddings, corporate meetings, social gatherings, cooking classes, and educational programs.
On-Site Contact:
Act as the main point of contact during events to keep timelines on track and assist guests.
Vendor & Client Support:
Oversee vendor activities, manage client needs during events, and enforce venue rules.
Troubleshooting:
Address and resolve live issues regarding logistics, or guest needs.
Staff Oversight:
Guide hourly front-of-house staff during events.
Team Collaboration:
Foster a collaborative, efficient, and accountable team environment with the front-of-house staff and the Executive Chef.
Venue Operations & Safety Open & Close:
Handle facility opening and closing procedures including, but not limited to arming and disarming alarms and locking doors and windows.
Setup & Breakdown:
Execute physical setup and breakdown to match client expectations and venue standards.
Facility Readiness:
Maintain cleanliness and organization, managing bathrooms, laundry, and restocking supplies.
Compliance:
Partners with the Executive Chef and kitchen team to ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, health regulations, and venue emergency procedures. Requirements & Experience Previous experience in hospitality and event support/operations is preferred. Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities across both venues. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and team members. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends based on event needs. Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, setup, and standing for extended periods. Desired Qualities Thrives on execution, enjoys hands-on work, and operations. Comfortable guiding front-of-house hourly staff while actively working alongside them. Passionate about guest experience, customer service, and working with a team. Highly adaptable, resourceful, and solutions-oriented. Alignment with Turner Farm's mission and values.
Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
