Job Description

Media and Events Manager The United States Parachute Association is a voluntary non-profit membership organization of individuals who enjoy and support the sport of skydiving. USPA provides competitive compensation for all employees, which includes paid time off, federal holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, and tuition reimbursement. USPA is looking for a Media and Events Manager to join the team. This person will work within the Communications Department to create and monitor content on social and other digital media platforms and assist with other department-related endeavors. This position manages our social media presence to ensure it is in-line with our goals and mission. This person will plan and manage USPA events, including conferences and symposiums. The ideal applicant will have a proven background in social media and event planning, and a passion for skydiving. Applications will be reviewed as they are received, so interested candidates are encouraged to apply early. The position is based at USPA headquarters in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Remote work may be considered for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
Social Media Planning, scheduling, and daily engagement of social media content Monitor, analyze, and report on social media performance Identify opportunities for paid campaigns and manage campaign development, execution, and reporting Work with Canva and/or Photoshop and staff designer to promote content found in Parachutist or otherwise submitted by our members. Schedule, create and post USPA webinars, collaborating with relevant staff on department-related topics Media coverage for USPA and skydiving events Including USPA National Parachuting Championships, FAI World Parachuting Championships, USPA National Collegiate Skydiving Championships. Promote the annual World Skydiving Day event. Create educational and informative short form videos with original content and repurposed content from webinars, USPA Library, etc. This person will assist with the planning, budget, production, and execution of video marketing campaigns. While editing skills are not required, ideally this person is proficient in basic editing programs and can help direct videographers and editors according to the project. Strategize content that aligns with SEO best practices to improve organic search visibility and resonate with target audiences. Monitor and analyze website traffic and user behavior to inform content strategies. Event Planning and Management Point person for planning events including USPA conferences, trade shows, and industry events including Drop Zone Operators conference(s), PIA Symposium presence, Hall of Fame event, and other trade shows and industry events. Coordinate event logistics, including venue requirements, registration, exhibitor needs, travel, shipping and equipment. Manage on-site event operations, including booth setup and teardown. Conduct post-event evaluations and recommend improvements for future events Liaise with Advertising Manager to create event sponsorship opportunities Assists with other projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Four-year college degree in marketing, communications, or a related field preferred Strong grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills Must be proficient in current social media platforms (including Meta Business Suite and Ads Manager) Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop and InDesign) and HTML are a plus. Experience with Google AdWords and Google Analytics preferred Knowledge of skydiving strongly preferred
