This position will be a part of an events support team that will work closely with our Venue Experience Manager (FT) and Venue Support Coordinator (FT) during our busy seasons of events and other programming at the WaterFire Arts Center (WFAC), WaterFire Providence's () multi-use arts facility rooted in the vibrant Valley neighborhood of Providence. Working in coordination with the venue and facility team, this individual will serve as a part-time team member and will be responsible for providing great customer service and proactive maintenance for the WFAC. This position will provide general event support and act as the WaterFire liaison with our clients and our event management partners. This role is perfect for someone who is interested in part-time behind-the-scenes work, friendly, detail-oriented and demonstrates extraordinary customer service. It offers the opportunity to become engaged with a world-renowned arts organization and its community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing access for clients, vendors, and other parties utilizing the WFAC.
- Aiding in general facility operations including lights, electric, restrooms, HVAC, and door access.
- Maintain safe, orderly, and clean facilities during events.
- Working on your feet for 4 to 5 hours per shift (or up to 9 hours for all-day events).
- Communicating effectively with visitors, other staff, clients and management.
- Work with and assist the FOH/store team members on-site, making sure the front desk/store is staffed at all times (some smaller events may require shifts working in the store).
- Creating a positive and educational experience for all visitors.
- Comprehend, direct, and implement emergency duties, including, but not limited to venue evacuations.
- Maintain clean common areas, rental spaces, and exhibition spaces during shifts (cleaning glass in foyers, spills and/or debris on floors, dusting as needed, etc.)
- Cleaning and stocking all facility restrooms or working with hired custodial staff.
- Proactively communicate and work collaboratively with all levels of WaterFire staff, volunteers and interns, vendors, and clients.
- Complete shift responsibilities check lists and report post notes to the Venue Support Coordinator and the Venue Experience Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior customer service experience required.
- Must obtain a Crowd Safety Manager certificate from the Rhode Island Office of the State Fire Marshal.
- You must be responsible, dependable and punctual.
- Must be a team player, highly motivated and energetic.
- The ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to adapt/respond to different types of situations in a positive manner.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- We ask that you can comfortably and safely lift and carry at least 30 lbs.
