Job Summary:
Tops Marketplace is seeking an experienced Meat Clerk or Butcher. Their role is to receive, rotate, wrap, price and merchandise fresh and processed meats. Assist in merchandising meat, chicken, pork, turkey, and seafood. Provide assistance to customers by answering the phone, responding to questions and recommending products. Grind beef as needed and learn basic meat cuts. Clean meat room at end of day and maintain a clean and safe environment during the day.
MUST HAVE MEAT CLERK EXPERIENCE AS A MINIUM
If you have eperience as a butcher, your primary job would be to cut meat. Must be 18 or older.
Must work every other weekend:
8-10 hours per day.
Responsibilities:
Learn all cuts of beef and their UPC code Wrap and label cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood, including grinds. Grind hamburger meat and make hamburger patties. Receive product and match product to invoice to ensure product received matches invoice. Inspect meat for quality. Assist in putting product away and ensure proper rotation. Ensure meat, seafood, and chicken cases are fully stocked. Rotate product according to expiration dates. Follow established guidelines when disposing of damaged and/or expired products. Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment. Keep floor clear of debris and spills. Empty trash when needed and bale cardboard boxes. Clean and sanitize all equipment in including grinders, band saw, work surfaces, knives, trays and areas in the meat department, including the meat cooler and refrigerated display cases for customers. Be knowledgeable about the location of all items in the store to assist customers. Ensure a safe and positive environment and experience for customers. Provide assistance to customers by answering questions regarding meats, poultry, and seafood. Utilize and maintain equipment as required by department; report any equipment problems immediately. Operate equipment with all safeguards in place and in good operating condition. Observe safe methods of performing all duties. Protect company property and merchandise at all times Merchandise department to maximize sales Perform other duties as assigned by management, including working in other departments as needed. Physical Requirements Ability to work in variable temperatures Primarily a standing position where an employee will be required to stand in one place Ability to tolerate cleaning agents during routine cleaning Most of the time spent will be moving about frequently on a hard surface. There will be bending, lifting, pulling, reaching and or stooping. Unload pallets and move merchandise to Meat Department that weights 40 lbs. and that occasionally weighs up to 90 lbs. Regularly lift, pull, push, and rotate merchandise that weights 40 lbs. and that occasionally weights 90 lbs. Work in an environment that includes continuous duties in refrigerated cutting rooms and storage areas with occasional duties in freezer maintained at temperatures as low as 20 degrees (Fahrenheit) below zero.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Must have a High School Diploma or GED Must be at least 18 years of age Must have valid driver's license and a car to get to and from work Ideally have prior work experience, not necessarily in a supermarket. Seeking someone who has held these roles with other companies Meat Clerk experience preferred Meat Cutting experience preferred Must be a self-starter and able to work independently. Must be able to take direction well. Pay:
$19.00 - $28.00 per hour Application Question(s): Do you own a car to get to and from work with? How many years of meat clerk experience do you have? How many years of butchering experience do you have? Will you be able to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) from 8AM-6PM? When are you available during the week? Meat department hours are 8AM to 5:30/PM.
