BMS Aerospace is seeking Shop Hands / Machine Operators to support our growing fabrication and welding operations. This position is well suited for dependable individuals with mechanical aptitude who want to learn multiple aerospace manufacturing processes and become skilled production operators. BMS Aerospace has been serving the Aerospace, Industrial Gas Turbine, Defense, and Commercial industries for over 40 years. With continued growth across our manufacturing operations, we are expanding our team to support complex, mission-critical hardware in a fast-paced and quality-driven environment. The position will primarily support loading and running automated welding equipment, automatic slip roll equipment, expansion presses, and related fabrication machinery. The operator will also assist with part preparation, cleaning, deburring, material movement, and general shop support. Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to): Load, unload, start, monitor, and run automated welding equipment in accordance with approved instructions Operate automatic slip roll equipment to form sheet metal components to specified diameters and profiles Operate expansion presses and related forming equipment using established tooling and parameters Set up parts, fixtures, mandrels, tooling, and machine controls under established procedures Verify part numbers, quantities, revisions, and material before beginning an operation Read routers, operation sheets, drawings, and basic setup instructions Perform basic dimensional checks using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, templates, and gauges Inspect parts during and after processing for visible defects, distortion, marking, incomplete welds, or improper forming Deburr, blend, clean, wash, and prepare components between manufacturing operations Move parts safely between departments and protect aerospace hardware from damage or contamination Complete production quantities, scrap reporting, time reporting, and job documentation accurately Notify supervision of abnormal machine operation, damaged tooling, or nonconforming parts Assist with routine equipment cleaning and basic preventive maintenance tasks Maintain organized tooling, fixtures, workstations, and material staging areas Support operators in welding, forming, assembly, testing, and shipping as workload requires Follow lockout/tagout, machine guarding, PPE, lifting, and material handling requirements Participate in training and cross-training to become qualified on additional equipment Follow AS9100, FAA, ITAR, customer, safety, and company requirements

Requirements and Qualifications:

Previous manufacturing, machine operation, fabrication, automotive, construction, or mechanical experience preferred Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn automated welding, slip rolling, and expansion press operations Ability to follow written and verbal instructions consistently Ability to read basic drawings, dimensions, and production documentation Basic math and measuring skills Ability to use common hand tools and basic measuring equipment Comfort working around industrial equipment and sheet metal components Reliable attendance and ability to work productively with limited supervision after training Ability to identify obvious defects and stop work when something appears incorrect High school diploma or equivalent preferred Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand, bend, and move throughout the shift Forklift or material handling experience is a plus
