Job Summary Join our vibrant food service team as a Deli Associate / Food Service Team Member! In this energetic role, you will be the friendly face behind the deli counter, providing exceptional customer service while preparing and serving fresh, delicious food. Duties We are hiring a reliable and hard-working Deli Associate / Food Service Team Member for our truck stop food program in Vidor, TX. This position is part of a growing in-store food operation that includes fresh breakfast tacos, burgers, tacos, hot case items, roller grill items, grab-and-go salads, sandwiches, bakery items, and fresh drinks. This is a hands-on role for someone who can move fast, keep food quality consistent, and take pride in a clean, well-stocked deli.
Responsibilities include:
Prepare breakfast items such as breakfast tacos, eggs, sausage, potatoes, and other morning items Cook and assemble menu items including burgers, street tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and hot case foods Prep proteins, sauces, toppings, vegetables, and other ingredients according to recipes and portion standards Stock and maintain grab-and-go items such as salads, sandwiches, desserts, drinks, and bakery products Keep the roller grill, hot case, steam table, cold case, and prep areas full, clean, and organized Label, date, rotate, and store food properly Follow food safety, sanitation, and temperature control procedures Maintain a clean kitchen, deli counter, equipment, floors, and storage areas Help with packaging, portioning, and presentation so products look fresh and consistent Assist customers when needed and provide friendly service Communicate with the manager when items are low, equipment has issues, or prep is needed Work as part of a team during breakfast, lunch, and busy truck stop rushes Ideal candidate: Has restaurant, deli, kitchen, fast food, or convenience store food experience Can follow recipes, portion guides, and daily prep lists Works quickly while keeping food clean and consistent Shows up on time and is dependable Can stand for long periods and lift up to 30lbs when needed Is comfortable working around grills, fryers, steam tables, hot cases, and cold cases Takes cleanliness and food safety seriously Has a positive attitude and is willing to learn Experience Background in culinary arts or kitchen experience is a plus for those interested in developing cooking skills Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively during high-volume periods Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service with a positive attitude Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling techniques is highly desirable Retail sales experience or grocery store background will support success in this role Join us to be part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering quality food and exceptional customer experiences.
