Job Description

The Assistant General Manager works with the hotel's General Manager to generate profit that meets or exceeds budget expectations, while maintaining operational and guest service standards. The AGM at our hotel is a person in training to become a Hotel General Manager. The AGM is involved in all important decisions and discussions of the hotel. Drive hotel revenue, assist in developing hotel budgets, and analyze monthly profit & loss statements. Conduct regular team meetings. Coach and train all members of the Front Desk team. Ensure team member attitude of attentiveness and anticipation of guest needs. Review room inventory and rate management to ensure maximization of room revenue. Inspect rooms according to quality standards for cleanliness and proper preventative maintenance. Develop and maintain hotel programs to assure that the quality program criteria are met.
Job Requirements:
Previous Hospitality experience is strongly preferred. The Assistant General Manager will work four or five shifts per week at the Front Desk. Meet with and solicit comments from guests on a regular basis to determine their level of satisfaction with guest services and facilities. Respond and follow up on all social media reviews and written guest comments. Ensure guest satisfaction with resolution of any complaints or problems. Control, review and approve the hotel payroll with assistance and approval from GM and Owner. Ensure proper selection, training, counseling and motivation of all team members. Review all hourly team member disciplinary procedures and documentation. Follow progressive discipline steps, up to and including termination, to correct team member performance deficiencies. Review and approve transmittals and other front office paperwork and reports. Authorize direct bill accounts and monitor the administration of Accounts Receivable. Ensure a viable internal control program is in place in all hotel departments, with documentation, including cash control procedures. Ensure the security needs of the property and guests are met, including training for all team members to act according to procedure, in the event of an emergency or accident at the hotel. Respond to requests from immediate supervisor. Follow-up with immediate supervisor on a regular basis. Experience & Background 1-3 years of experience in hospitality, hotel operations, or a related service industry preferred Prior Front Desk or Supervisory experience strongly preferred Experience in economy or limited-service hotel environments is a plus Demonstrated progression toward leadership roles or interest in becoming a General Manager Leadership & Management Skills Ability to supervise, coach, and motivate team members in a hands-on environment Experience assisting with hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead team meetings and foster a positive work culture Ability to handle disciplinary procedures professionally, including documentation and progressive discipline
