Required Qualifications Position Title Hotel Assistant General Manager (AGM) Property Holiday Inn Express & Suites Columbus - Polaris Parkway (IHG Brand) Location Columbus, Ohio Employment Type Full-Time | Exempt Job Summary The Hotel Assistant General Manager (AGM) plays a critical leadership role in supporting the overall success of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Columbus - Polaris Parkway. This position assists the General Manager in overseeing daily hotel operations, ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction, operational excellence, and financial performance. The AGM leads by example, supports and develops team members, and helps maintain brand, company, and regulatory standards. As hospitality is a 24/7, 365-day business, this role requires flexibility and a willingness to lead the property during any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as business needs dictate. Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Guest Experience Assist the General Manager in overseeing all hotel departments, including Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Food & Beverage (as applicable), to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) as assigned, providing leadership coverage and decision-making support at any time of day. Ensure consistent delivery of outstanding guest service and promptly resolve guest concerns to drive guest satisfaction and loyalty. Maintain compliance with IHG brand standards, policies, and quality assurance requirements. Support front desk operations during peak periods or staffing shortages to maintain service excellence. Leadership & Team Management Supervise, coach, and motivate team members across departments to foster a positive, accountable, and service-oriented culture. Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management of hotel associates. Promote teamwork, professionalism, and adherence to company policies and procedures. Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace in compliance with all applicable employment laws. Financial & Administrative Responsibilities Support revenue management initiatives by monitoring occupancy, ADR, and pricing strategies in coordination with the General Manager and revenue partners. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting. Oversee and/or support night audit procedures to ensure accurate daily financial reconciliation and reporting. Ensure proper cash handling, banking procedures, and internal controls are followed. Systems & Technology Utilize the HotelKeys Property Management System (PMS) or equivalent systems to manage reservations, reporting, and operational workflows. Maintain effective communication using multi-line phone systems and other hotel technology platforms. Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with all Federal, State of Ohio, and local labor laws, including wage and hour regulations, equal employment opportunity, and workplace safety standards. Enforce hotel policies related to safety, security, emergency procedures, and risk management. Assist with inspections, audits, and corrective action plans as required. Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications Minimum of 2-4 years of progressive hotel management or supervisory experience. Proven leadership experience in hotel operations or a similar hospitality environment. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the property for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience with IHG-branded hotels strongly preferred. Experience with HotelKeys PMS or comparable hotel property management systems. Experience with comparable brands such as Marriott, Hilton, or Choice Hotels. Knowledge of revenue management principles and hotel financial reporting. Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus. Skills & Competencies Strong guest-service orientation with a passion for hospitality. Effective leadership and team development skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
