Full-Time, Salaried The Landmark Hotel & Casino is seeking an experienced, hands-on Hotel Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our boutique hotel in the heart of Deadwood. This is an on-property leadership position for someone who takes ownership, enjoys working directly with guests and employees, and understands that operating a great hotel means attending to the details every single day. The Hotel Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the hotel operation, including the front desk, housekeeping, reservations, guest experience, staffing, scheduling, and coordination with maintenance and other Landmark departments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee daily hotel operations and ensure a consistently high level of guest service.
  • Lead, schedule, train, and manage front desk and housekeeping employees.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels while controlling labor costs.
  • Monitor reservations, occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and other key hotel performance metrics.
  • Work with ownership on room pricing, revenue management, promotions, and distribution channels.
  • Monitor OTA listings and rates, and help drive direct bookings.
  • Ensure rooms and common areas consistently meet Landmark's cleanliness and presentation standards.
  • Coordinate closely with housekeeping and maintenance so rooms are ready and deficiencies are corrected quickly.
  • Handle guest concerns and resolve issues professionally and promptly.
  • Oversee hotel inventory, supplies, purchasing, and operating expenses.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Establish and maintain operating procedures for the front desk, housekeeping, reservations, and guest services.
  • Review guest feedback and implement improvements to the guest experience.
  • Prepare regular reports for ownership on occupancy, revenue, staffing, guest issues, and overall hotel performance.
  • Coordinate hotel operations with Landmark's casino, food & beverage, marketing, and other departments.
  • Be present and available during high-occupancy periods, major Deadwood events, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid South Dakota Commission on Gaming support license (red tag) or key employee license (blue tag) as a condition of employment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions independently.
  • Comfortable managing schedules, labor, budgets, and operating expenses.
  • Familiarity with hotel property management systems, reservations, and OTAs.
  • Working understanding of ADR, occupancy, RevPAR, and basic hotel revenue management.
  • High attention to detail and a genuine commitment to guest service.
  • Willingness to be hands-on and assist the team when needed.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone who treats the hotel as if it were their own business. The right candidate is equally comfortable reviewing hotel performance, coaching an employee, solving a guest issue, inspecting a room, or stepping behind the front desk during a busy period. Landmark is a growing hospitality and entertainment business, and this position offers a real opportunity to take meaningful ownership of the hotel operation and help build its systems, team, and reputation.
COMPENSATION
Starting base salary of $80,000 per year, with up to $10,000 in additional annual bonus potential based on performance — total target compensation of $80,000 to $90,000, depending on experience. Benefits and additional compensation opportunities may be added as Landmark continues to expand its employee benefits program.
SCHEDULE
This is a full-time management position. Hotel operations run 24/7, and the Hotel Manager must have the flexibility to work or be available during weekends, holidays, special events, and other high-demand periods as needed. The Landmark Hotel & Casino is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
