Surf Shack Properties is seeking an experienced, hands-on Housekeeping Supervisor to lead our housekeeping team for a portfolio of luxury short-term vacation rentals in West Maui. This is not a desk job. You'll spend part of your day performing turnovers and the rest ensuring every home meets our exceptionally high cleaning standards. You'll train team members, conduct detailed inspections, solve problems in the field, coordinate with maintenance, and help continuously improve our operations. • Minimum 3 years of personally cleaning short-term vacation rentals and at least 1 year supervising housekeeping teams in the short-term rental industry is required.
• Responsibilities
• Leadership & Supervision
• Lead, train, coach, and motivate housekeeping staff
• Conduct quality inspections before guest arrivals to ensure every home meets company standards
• Provide immediate coaching and retraining when quality issues are identified
• Assist with scheduling, workload balancing, and daily housekeeping operations
• Ensure company cleaning procedures and checklists are consistently followed
• Help recruit, onboard, and train new housekeeping team members
• Maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment
• Housekeeping Operations
• Perform vacation rental turnovers as needed
• Thoroughly clean and sanitize bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, living areas, and lanais between guest stays
• Inspect homes for cleanliness, damage, maintenance issues, missing inventory, and safety concerns
• Restock linens, toiletries, guest amenities, and cleaning supplies
• Perform floor care including vacuuming, mopping, and spot carpet cleaning
• Assist with laundry as needed, including blankets and specialty linens
• Coordinate with maintenance regarding repairs requiring immediate attention
• Help maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, linens, and guest amenities Communication
• Communicate clearly with management regarding staffing, quality concerns, maintenance needs, and guest readiness
• Document issues with photos and detailed notes using company smartphone applications
• Help improve procedures and identify opportunities to increase efficiency and quality Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years cleaning short-term vacation rentals
• Minimum 1 year supervising housekeeping staff in vacation rentals, hotels, or hospitality
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to train and motivate others
• Experience conducting quality inspections
• Strong knowledge of cleaning products, sanitation procedures, and hospitality standards
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical cleaning duties throughout the day
• Comfortable using smartphone apps to take photos, record videos, complete inspections, and communicate with the team Preferred Qualifications
