This hands-on leadership position oversees staffing, training, scheduling, inspections, inventory, productivity and departmental performance. The Housekeeping Manager is accountable for delivering clean, fully equipped and guest-ready suites on time while maintaining a safe, organized and positive work environment. Because Staybridge Suites is an extended-stay, all-suite hotel, this position requires close attention to kitchens, dishes, cookware, appliances, linen, housekeeping schedules and the specific needs of long-term guests. Essential Responsibilities - Department Leadership Recruit, train, supervise and motivate room attendants, housepersons, laundry attendants and housekeeping supervisors. Establish clear daily expectations and hold team members accountable for productivity, attendance, quality and professional conduct. Conduct departmental meetings, ongoing coaching and performance evaluations. Document attendance, performance and policy concerns and coordinate corrective action with hotel leadership. Ensure employees complete all required IHG, safety and property-specific training. Maintain appropriate department coverage seven days a week, including weekends, holidays and high-occupancy periods. Ensure housekeeping employees report to work in complete uniform with proper identification and a professional appearance. Guest-Suite Cleanliness and Readiness Ensure every guest suite is cleaned, sanitized, inspected and released according to IHG and Staybridge Suites standards. Verify that suite kitchens, refrigerators, microwaves, stovetops, dishwashers, cookware, dishes, glassware and utensils are clean, functional and properly stocked. Ensure bathrooms, living areas, sleeping areas, closets and floors meet established cleanliness and presentation standards. Manage stayover, weekly and departure-cleaning assignments for both short-term and extended-stay guests. Ensure required room-entry and housekeeping schedules are completed and properly documented. Prioritize early arrivals, room moves, VIPs, groups and special guest requests in coordination with the Front Desk. Immediately report maintenance concerns, damages, excessive cleaning needs, smoking violations and missing inventory. Quality Assurance and Inspections Inspect a consistent sample of departure rooms, stayover rooms, public areas and completed deep-cleaning projects each day. Maintain the department in a constant state of readiness for IHG quality evaluations, ownership inspections and internal audits. Create and manage corrective-action plans when cleanliness or brand-standard deficiencies are identified. Track recurring deficiencies by employee, room, floor or cleaning category and provide retraining when necessary. Monitor guest feedback and cleanliness scores and respond quickly to negative trends. Partner with hotel leadership on guest concerns, service recovery and follow-up. Scheduling, Productivity and Room Control Prepare weekly schedules based on occupancy forecasts, arrivals, departures, stayovers and group activity. Assign daily workloads fairly while maintaining labor and productivity goals. Conduct daily housekeeping lineups and communicate occupancy, VIP arrivals, special requests and operational priorities. Monitor room status throughout the day and ensure accurate, timely communication with the Front Desk. Verify that clean rooms are inspected and released promptly to support check-in and prevent unnecessary guest delays. Arrange coverage for call-offs and assist with cleaning, laundry or inspections when operationally necessary. Laundry, Linen and Inventory Management Oversee the hotel's laundry operation and ensure linen is processed, stored and rotated correctly. Maintain appropriate par levels for sheets, towels, mattress protectors, pillow protectors, blankets and other guest-room supplies. Monitor linen loss, damage and premature wear and recommend replacement as necessary. Maintain accurate inventories of guest supplies, cleaning chemicals, equipment and housekeeping tools. Place supply orders within approved budgets and prevent unnecessary waste or overuse. Ensure housekeeping carts, closets, laundry areas and storage rooms remain clean, secure and organized. Confirm that cleaning equipment is properly maintained and removed from service when unsafe or defective. Safety and Compliance Enforce proper chemical handling, labeling, dilution, storage and Safety Data Sheet procedures. Ensure employees use required personal protective equipment and follow bloodborne-pathogen, sharps and hazardous-material procedures. Maintain compliance with OSHA requirements, hotel safety policies and applicable health regulations. Conduct regular safety training and immediately report workplace injuries or hazards. Ensure guest-room doors remain secured during cleaning and that guest belongings, keys and confidential information are protected. Administer the hotel's Lost and Found procedures accurately and consistently. Support the hotel's human-trafficking awareness, privacy and guest-security procedures. Interdepartmental Coordination Communicate daily with the Front Desk regarding room priorities, discrepancies, guest requests and room availability. Coordinate with Maintenance on repairs, preventative maintenance, out-of-order rooms and deep-cleaning needs. Partner with Sales and Operations to prepare suites and public areas for groups, extended-stay accounts, inspections and special events. Coordinate periodic deep cleaning of guest suites, corridors, stairwells, public restrooms, lobby areas and back-of-house spaces. Qualifications Previous hotel housekeeping leadership experience is required; extended-stay or IHG experience is strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to supervise, train and hold employees accountable. Strong knowledge of hotel-room cleaning, laundry operations, sanitation, chemical safety and inventory management. Excellent organizational, scheduling and time-management skills. Ability to inspect rooms carefully and identify cleanliness, maintenance and brand-standard deficiencies. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with employees from diverse backgrounds. Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills are preferred but not required. Basic computer skills and experience with hotel room-status or property-management systems are preferred. Availability to work mornings, weekends, holidays and additional hours based on hotel occupancy and operational needs. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, kneel, climb stairs and perform repetitive movements. Ability to push and pull housekeeping carts and laundry bins. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Ability to work safely around cleaning chemicals, laundry equipment and varying temperatures.
