About this job… The Assistant Housekeeping Manager plays an important role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by helping ensure our guest rooms, public spaces, and associate areas consistently meet the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation. Working closely with the housekeeping leadership team and other hotel departments, the Assistant Housekeeping Manager helps oversee daily housekeeping operations, supports and develops team members, coordinates room assignments and workload, monitors quality and productivity, and ensures guest requests are handled promptly and professionally. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys being on the floor, working alongside the team, solving problems, and creating an environment where both guests and associates feel cared for. What you'll be doing… Assist with the daily leadership and operation of the housekeeping department, including guest rooms, public spaces, and associate areas. Help ensure hotel and brand cleanliness, presentation, and service standards are consistently achieved. Inspect guest rooms and public areas to ensure established quality and cleanliness standards are met. Support the recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, and development of housekeeping team members. Coordinate daily room assignments and adjust workloads based on occupancy, arrivals, departures, special requests, and operational needs. Assist with scheduling the housekeeping team according to business levels, workload demands, and established labor guidelines. Monitor room status and communicate closely with Guest Services to support timely room readiness and a smooth arrival experience. Help manage housekeeping supplies, linens, amenities, equipment, and inventory while promoting responsible use of department resources. Provide hands-on leadership during busy periods and assist the team in responding to changing operational priorities. Communicate effectively with Maintenance, Guest Services, and other hotel departments to ensure housekeeping and cleanliness needs are addressed promptly. Listen to guests, respond with empathy, and take appropriate action to resolve housekeeping-related concerns. Reinforce workplace safety and security practices and help maintain a safe environment for guests and associates. Support department goals, productivity expectations, budgets, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain professionalism consistent with hotel brand and First Hospitality expectations. Know, maintain, and communicate hotel emergency procedures and assist guests and associates during emergency situations. Perform additional duties as needed to support the successful operation of the hotel. Success factors…Experience & Education 2+ years of hotel housekeeping experience preferred Previous housekeeping supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred High school diploma or equivalent education certificate required Strong knowledge of hotel housekeeping operations, cleanliness standards, and room inspection procedures Ability to organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced hotel environment A hands-on leadership style with the ability to coach, motivate, and support a diverse team Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering an excellent guest experience Communication Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to communicate effectively with guests, associates, and hotel leadership Must be able to speak, read, and write in the primary language used in the workplace Physical 8+ hours per day; stand and walk frequently throughout the workday Reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and pivot frequently throughout the workday Lift, lower, push, pull, and maneuver up to 30 pounds occasionally About First Hospitality… Founded in 1985 and based in Chicago, First Hospitality is a forward-thinking hotel development, investment, and management company.
