A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.
First Baptist Church of Foley is seeking a Lead Custodian to oversee the cleanliness, sanitation, and maintenance of our facilities. The ideal candidate for this position will not only be dedicated to delivering exceptional results but also contribute as a valuable asset to our church staff. Function:
Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, orderliness, and readiness of the church facilities, and for directing the daily work of the Part-Time Church Custodian.

Hours:
Up to 40 hours per week. Primarily weekday hours, with occasional evening and weekend coverage for church events, scheduled in advance.

Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Prior janitorial or custodial experience is preferred. Experience training or directing the work of others is preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail. Good communication skills, including the ability to give clear direction and receive feedback. Ability to safely operate floor care equipment such as a buffer, carpet extractor, and auto-scrubber, or willingness to be trained. Must pass a criminal background check and complete FBC Foley's child protection training before beginning work, and comply with the church's child protection policy at all times. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and to push, pull, or move heavier items with assistance or equipment. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to perform repetitive motions. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, and climb a step ladder. Responsibilities General Custodial Care Ensure all areas are clean, presentable, and ready for use. Sweep, mop, and vacuum facilities on campus. Clean, sanitize, and restock paper products in restrooms. Empty all trash receptacles on the schedule identified by the Facilities Manager. Clean and sanitize surfaces in preschool and children's areas, as well as other areas as determined by the Facilities Manager. Operate and maintain floor care equipment and perform periodic deep cleaning such as floor stripping and waxing and carpet extraction, as scheduled. Handle, label, and store cleaning chemicals safely, following product label and Safety Data Sheet instructions. Setup, Events, and Building Security Coordinate room setup and teardown for worship services, weddings, funerals, and other church events. Open, close, and secure the building as assigned, serving as a key holder and following established alarm procedures. Supervision and Coordination Schedule, train, and direct the daily work of the Part-Time Church Custodian. Inspect completed work, address quality concerns directly, and report ongoing performance issues to the Facilities Manager. Maintain adequate supplies of paper products, cleaning chemicals, and equipment within the budget and guidelines set by the Facilities Manager. Report maintenance and repair needs to the Facilities Manager promptly. Perform other duties as assigned.

$20.00 per hour Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
