JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Store Management Staff, the Janitor is responsible for maintaining the physical appearance of the store including windows, floors, restrooms, stockroom and merchandise selling floor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Cleans sales floor, restrooms, employee break room, offices, stockroom, and other related interior store areas daily. Keeps all windows/glass surfaces clean. Clean sidewalks, parking lots and other related exteriors of store facility. Sweep and mop sales floor daily Supports Agency safety and security programs. Observes and supports all Agency policies and procedures. Assists customers/donors with purchases and donations. Demonstrates a high level of customer service skills. Informs store management of needed janitorial/maintenance supplies. Reports problems with equipment or building to store management immediately. Regular attendance is required to perform the essential functions of the job.
SECONDARY DUTIES
Perform duties of Donation Attendant, Material Handler I, E-Commerce, and production processing as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned by Management Staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education Required:
Elementary education.
Experience Required :
Six months janitorial experience is highly desirable. Work in a related field that may have included janitorial duties may also meet this requirement.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Knowledge Required :
Knowledge of floor and building cleanliness and sanitation; fundamental knowledge of janitorial procedures and proper cleaning principles; and basic knowledge of safety and security in a retail sales setting. Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets and proper use and storage of cleaning solutions and supplies are highly desirable.
Equipment Used:
Vacuum; mop, broom; time recorder; telephone; hand truck; pallet jack; ladder; power lift.
SKILLS/APTITUDES/TEMPERAMENTS
Ability to work independently and capable of establishing a daily and weekly routine of duties with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to be flexible in handling a variety of tasks.
EMOTIONAL EFFORT
This position requires moderate emotional effort involving low to high employee and customer involvement (internal and external).
JOB SETTING
Work environment is fast paced with high activity/demands. Flexible work schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Variable working conditions, exposure to extreme heat and cold - temperatures ranging from 25 to 115 degrees.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to ambulate, reach and lift up to 35 lbs. Ability to bend/lift from the waist. Ability to stand for long periods of time and climb a ladder. Good eye/hand coordination.
