A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description
Summary Maintain cleanliness of the school building and grounds, and ensure a safe and pleasant learning environment for students, staff, and the public. Open and prepare the building for events and activities occurring on the weekend. Weekend shift Sat-Sunday 8am-4pm. Hours flex during summer months. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Vacuum, sweep, dust, wash, remove trash, mop, and sanitize school restrooms, equipment, and/or property.
- Respond to requests from Facility Manager to repair items and attend to emergencies or security problems.
- Complete maintenance schedules outlined on the building information sheet.
- Assist contractors assigned to the building as needed.
- Set-up and dissemble furniture and/or property used for activities on the school site.
- Rearrange and move heavy equipment and furniture.
- Remove weeds and litter from fence lines and grounds.
- Sweep sidewalks and play pads.
- Secure buildings and report to security prior to ending your shift.
- Operate emergency shutoffs and control valves.
- Clean and change floor level filters on building equipment.
- Shampoo and extract carpets; remove floor finishes and reapply.
- Mow, water, spray, and fertilize lawns; operate landscape equipment.
