Janitorial Associate

Job Description

Job highlights: The Janitorial Technician is responsible for performing general cleaning and minor maintenance duties in the building and equipment, keeping them in a clean, orderly, and functional condition. They will aid staff, visitors, and other employees, as necessary. They will deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment. All duties are carried out in accordance with the company policies, SOPs, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as well as all applicable local, State, and Federal regulations.
Responsibilities Job functions:
Cleans reception areas, lobbies, offices, and patients' rooms. Prepares and services the coffee supplies to the staff, monitors, and patients. Restock coffee and disposable supplies in appropriate storage area. Vacuums, sweeps, and mops the floors and stairs. Cleans offices by emptying trash, sweeping, and cleaning surfaces. Cleans and disinfects laboratory equipment. Sterilizes patients' rooms. Scrubs the walls, floors, shelves, tables, and sinks, using cleaning solutions and brushes. Maintains inventory of what supplies are needed. Clean and sanitize the bathrooms. Clean the sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators in the break rooms. Restock supplies in the bathrooms, break rooms and common areas. Empties all the trash cans and replaces liners, cleaning receptacles, as necessary. Dust and clean office desks and furniture that are not cluttered. Maintains janitor closets in a clean, organized, and safe manner. Always wear proper Personal Protective Equipment. Cleans windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees. Applies wax to coat floors and buffs. Applies sealant to floors. Performs work according to standard procedure and by building's operational schedule. Moves heavy equipment and furniture. Replace light bulbs. Fixes minor carpentry, electrical and plumbing leaks. Spray insecticides and fumigates to prevent insect and rodent infestation. Delivers supplies to designated work areas, using the hand truck. Completes additional tasks as required by a specific protocol. This position reports to the Office Manager. Skills Proven experience in cleaning or custodial roles within commercial or industrial settings. Knowledge of cleaning equipment operation, including floor buffers and industrial cleaning tools. Familiarity with chemical handling safety procedures and sanitation protocols. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following proper ergonomic practices. Strong attention to detail with a focus on maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. Excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with staff and visitors when needed. Basic understanding of facilities maintenance and general custodial responsibilities within a healthcare or research environment.
