What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Washes and sanitizes dishes, glassware, plastic ware, and cutlery in the prescribed manner, either manually, via the three compartment sink method, or mechanically, via the dish machine.
Washes and sanitizes pots, pans, and utensils using the three-compartment sink method. Washes and sanitizes worktables, walls, refrigerators, sinks, and kitchen equipment.
Maintain food and supply storage areas in a safe and sanitary manner. Transports trash from dining rooms and deposits in dumpster.
Segregates and removes trash; places in designated containers. Cleans and sanitizes trash cans. Assist in storing food and supply deliveries.
Set up banquet tables for special events. Sweeps, mops, and sanitizes kitchen floors.
Deliver food carts to and from dining room pantries.
Reports equipment and supply needs to the Assistant Director. Attend in-service training classes.
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize assigned tasks as needed.
