Job Title:

Technician Data Center Cleaning Job Description This role focuses on performing detailed final cleaning for a large data center facility, ensuring that all areas are free of dust, debris, and construction materials. You will work on an active construction site, supporting the transition from construction to a clean, operational environment by cleaning server racks, floors, and surrounding spaces with a high level of care and consistency. Responsibilities Perform detailed cleaning of server racks, including wiping down surfaces to remove dust and debris. Sweep, mop, and dust floors and surfaces throughout the facility to maintain a clean and safe environment. Remove and clean up construction materials and debris around the building and work areas. Follow established cleaning procedures and safety guidelines while working on an active construction site. Use cleaning equipment such as buffers and other tools, if trained and authorized, to complete assigned tasks. Remain aware of ongoing construction activities and adjust work practices to ensure personal and site safety. Potentially operate or work in and around a lull lift, following all safety protocols and training requirements. Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other on-site personnel to coordinate cleaning activities. Maintain cleanliness of tools, equipment, and assigned work areas at the end of each shift. Adhere to all site-specific rules, including personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and security procedures. Essential Skills Ability to perform physical cleaning tasks such as wiping, sweeping, mopping, and dusting for extended periods. Comfort working on a full, active construction site with many moving parts and changing conditions. Basic understanding of worksite cleanup practices, including safe handling and removal of construction materials. Reliability and punctuality to support a long-term project with consistent attendance. Attention to detail to ensure final cleaning meets data center standards. Ability to follow safety instructions and use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Additional Skills & Qualifications Janitorial or sanitation experience is preferred but not required. Prior experience in construction site cleanup or as a construction laborer is a plus. Customer service experience involving direct customer interaction is beneficial. Experience using buffers or other professional cleaning equipment is a bonus. Experience working in or around lifts, such as a lull lift, is an advantage. Willingness to work on a long-term project expected to run at least through January 2027, with potential for extension. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based on a large, active construction site within a data center facility in the northwest region of Indiana. The project is expected to run at least through January 2027, with the possibility of extension.

There are two shifts available:

7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The environment includes ongoing construction activity, equipment movement, and multiple trades working simultaneously, requiring strong situational awareness and adherence to safety protocols. You will use standard cleaning tools and equipment, and may work around lifts and other construction machinery. The dress code requires jeans, work boots, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a Type 2 hard hat and safety glasses, with certain PPE provided on site. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Michigan City, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
