JOB SUMMARY
Bastrop High School is seeking a dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented School Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. The custodian is responsible for performing routine cleaning, sanitation, maintenance support, and facility preparation duties while adhering to district policies, safety standards, and established procedures.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and other assigned areas. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain floors and surfaces. Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste appropriately. Replenish restroom and custodial supplies as needed. Clean windows, doors, walls, and fixtures. Assist with setting up and breaking down facilities for special events, meetings, and school activities. Perform minor maintenance tasks as assigned. Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, vandalism, or security issues to the appropriate supervisor. Ensure school buildings and grounds are maintained in a safe, orderly, and presentable condition. Follow all district safety procedures, cleaning protocols, and security requirements. Operate custodial equipment and cleaning tools safely and effectively. Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or supervisor.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous custodial, janitorial, maintenance, or related experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, and the public.
PHYCIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and carry.
- Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Operate cleaning equipment and use custodial supplies safely.
- Perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
