Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Full-Time Afternoon Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within our facility. This role is vital in ensuring that all areas are kept in pristine condition, promoting health and safety standards, and supporting the overall functionality of our space. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional custodial services during afternoon shifts. This position offers an engaging opportunity to contribute to a positive environment while utilizing your cleaning expertise and maintenance skills. Duties Perform thorough cleaning of all designated areas, including floors, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and scrubbers. Handle chemical agents safely by following proper chemical handling safety procedures and sanitation protocols. Conduct manual handling tasks including heavy lifting of supplies, furniture, or equipment while adhering to safe lifting practices to prevent injury. Maintain cleanliness by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces regularly. Operate cleaning machinery efficiently and safely, ensuring proper maintenance and troubleshooting when necessary. Support facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting (residential painting experience is a plus), and general upkeep to uphold facility standards. Assist with portering duties by moving materials or equipment as needed throughout the building. Follow safety protocols diligently during all custodial activities to ensure a secure environment for staff and visitors. Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to cleaning requests or concerns from staff or visitors. Experience Prior custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial or institutional setting is preferred. Demonstrated ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and other custodial tools effectively. Knowledge of chemical agent handling safety procedures and sanitation standards is essential. Experience with facilities maintenance tasks including light repairs or painting is advantageous. Familiarity with safety protocol adherence related to heavy lifting, manual handling, and chemical safety is required. Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently during afternoon shifts while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in performing routine cleaning duties efficiently.
