Schools are busy places. Hallways fill up. Restrooms get used. Trash cans somehow fill themselves. Spills don't check the cleaning schedule before happening. That's where you come in. A & C Property Services is hiring a dependable, experienced Day Porter to help keep a school in Southfield clean, safe, and welcoming throughout the school day. Unlike an overnight cleaning position, this is an active, visible role. You'll work around school staff, students, visitors, and normal daily activity — handling routine cleaning while also responding to the things that inevitably happen when a building is full of people. We're looking for someone who sees what needs attention and takes care of it.

What You'll Be Doing As the school's Day Porter, you'll help maintain cleanliness throughout the day and respond to areas that need attention between scheduled overnight cleanings.
Responsibilities include:
Regularly inspect and clean restrooms, including fixtures, floors, counters, and high-touch surfaces. Restock restroom and other designated facility supplies throughout the day. Maintain hallways, entrances, common areas, offices, and other assigned spaces. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and spot-clean floors as needed. Respond promptly to spills, tracked-in dirt, trash, and other cleaning needs that develop during the school day. Empty trash and recycling and replace liners as needed. Wipe and sanitize high-touch surfaces, including doors, handles, railings, counters, and fixtures. Spot-clean glass, doors, walls, and other visible surfaces. Help keep entrances and high-traffic areas presentable throughout the day. Perform scheduled cleaning tasks during quieter periods. Communicate professionally with school personnel regarding cleaning needs or facility concerns. Report maintenance issues, damage, supply needs, safety concerns, or other unusual conditions promptly. What We're Looking For A great day porter doesn't wait for someone to point out every problem. You notice what's happening around you, understand what needs attention, and take care of it. Required Previous commercial cleaning, day porter, school, institutional, or similar facility experience. Reliable, punctual, and able to consistently work the assigned daytime schedule. Comfortable working in an active, customer-facing environment around school staff, students, and visitors. Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify cleaning needs without being given a checklist for every task. Professional appearance, communication, and conduct. Able to work independently and manage priorities throughout the day. Comfortable receiving constructive coaching and applying feedback. Reliable transportation to and from the Southfield facility. Ability to meet applicable school access, security, background screening, safety, and other facility requirements. Preferred Previous day porter experience. Experience working in a school, childcare facility, university, healthcare facility, or other high-traffic environment. Experience managing changing priorities while maintaining a regular cleaning schedule. Why Work With A & C Property Services?
