A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description
We are looking for a Custodian to take care of our buildings and carry out cleaning, light maintenance, and make ready duties. The Custodian will oversee all aspects property appearance, cleanliness and image for current and prospective renters. Maintain the entrances and grounds in a clean and orderly condition and prepare vacant units for rental. Depending on the property assignment, the Custodian will perform a variety of the following duties. Custodial Responsibilities Clean and maintain the building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming. Maintain and clean inside of buildings and storerooms. Clean laundry rooms and machines. Empty trash from laundry rooms, office, shop, and community room. Gather and transport recycles to recycling bins from laundry rooms. Pick up garbage and recyclables from grounds and around dumpsters. Clean and service restrooms and stock supplies as needed. Clean and polish furniture and fixtures. Dust furniture, walls, baseboards, baseboards heaters, and windowsills. Replace light bulbs in building entranceways. Clean common area light fixtures of bugs and debris. Clean windows and mirrors using soapy water or window cleaner. Strip, seal, finish and polish floors. Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as walking perimeter and common areas. Notify manager and maintenance supervisor of any pertinent work orders Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning. Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables and chairs in community area to prepare facility for holidays. Conduct annual unit inspections with maintenance supervisors. Assist maintenance in cleaning vacant units. Perform any additional duties or special projects requested by the Property Manager. Skills Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions. Attention to detail and alert at all times to ensure safety. Ability to operate vacuum cleaner and other related equipment. Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies. Basic computer skills.
