The Arc of Ocean County is seeking a Crew Chief to guide community-based janitorial crews employing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities while helping them build practical skills through meaningful employment. In this role, you'll combine hands-on commercial cleaning experience with day-to-day coaching, creating a work environment where crew members can strengthen their confidence, independence, and workplace abilities.
You'll work alongside the crew at locations throughout Ocean County, helping ensure professional cleaning results while providing encouragement, instruction, and constructive feedback. Coach, Guide & Develop Crew Members
Direct and mentor individuals participating in The Arc's Community Janitorial Services program.
Teach job-related tasks through hands-on instruction designed to strengthen workplace skills, confidence, and independence.
Create a respectful, team-oriented environment where accountability and professional development are encouraged.
Identify individual abilities and provide coaching that supports improved performance and job readiness.
Help crew members develop employment skills that can transfer to future opportunities in the workforce.
Deliver Professional Cleaning Services
Work alongside crew members to complete commercial cleaning assignments at contracted customer locations throughout Ocean County.
Organize work so assignments are completed efficiently and according to established quality standards and customer expectations.
Apply appropriate commercial cleaning methods and floor care techniques, including stripping, waxing, and maintaining large floor surfaces.
Review completed work, identify areas for improvement, and provide feedback to help maintain reliable service quality.
Keep People Safe & Represent the Program Well
Promote safe working practices and reinforce compliance with agency policies and workplace safety standards.
Safely transport crew members between job sites using agency vehicles.
Maintain a professional presence when interacting with customers and community partners and represent The Arc of Ocean County positively.
Respond to operational issues and communicate relevant information to program leadership.
Help Maintain Strong Program Operations
Complete documentation related to daily activities, participant progress, and operational information.
Support program activities that create meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Contribute to a workplace experience that helps participants build skills and move toward greater independence.

Requirements
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Valid New Jersey driver's license in good standing with no more than five (5) motor vehicle points.
Ability to safely operate a 10-12 passenger vehicle.
Minimum of two (2) years of janitorial, custodial, or commercial cleaning experience required.
Experience performing floor care procedures, including stripping, waxing, and maintaining large floor surfaces required.
Must successfully complete all required state and federal background screenings and hiring requirements.
Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is welcomed but not required.
