In this vital role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks throughout the school facilities. Your efforts will ensure that the school remains a healthy and inviting place for learning and community engagement. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to upholding high standards of cleanliness and safety. Responsibilities Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal to maintain cleanliness across all school areas. Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, carpet cleaners, and industrial vacuums to ensure optimal sanitation and floor care. Handle chemical agents safely during cleaning processes by following proper chemical handling safety procedures. Conduct heavy lifting and manual handling tasks to move furniture, supplies, or equipment in accordance with safe lifting practices. Maintain sanitation standards in restrooms, cafeterias, classrooms, hallways, and other common areas. Perform minor repairs or report maintenance issues related to facilities or cleaning equipment to ensure operational efficiency. Follow safety protocols diligently to prevent accidents or injuries during custodial activities while adhering to all safety regulations. Requirements Proven custodial or janitorial experience in a school or commercial setting is preferred. Knowledge of cleaning techniques, commercial cleaning equipment, and floor care including buffing and polishing floors. Ability to handle chemical agents safely while adhering to chemical handling safety procedures. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks while practicing safe lifting practices. Strong customer service skills with a positive attitude toward staff and students. Familiarity with facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs or painting is a plus. Commitment to safety protocol adherence and maintaining a clean environment at all times. Prior experience with industrial cleaning or porter duties is advantageous.
