QUESTAR III BOCES
is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Night Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors at The Robert H Gibson HS in Troy NY. The Night Custodian is responsible for the daily cleaning, maintenance, and security of assigned areas of the building and grounds while ensuring the facility is prepared for the next school day. Responsibilities Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, stairwells, and common areas. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces. Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners. Clean and disinfect restrooms and replenish paper products and soap dispensers. Set up and break down rooms for meetings, events, and special activities. Perform routine floor care, including mopping, buffing, and operating custodial equipment. Secure the building by locking doors and windows and following established closing procedures. Monitor the building for maintenance or safety concerns and report issues promptly. Assist with snow and ice removal, as needed, and perform other seasonal grounds maintenance duties. Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, and fellow custodians to maintain a positive school environment. Perform other custodial and maintenance duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous custodial, maintenance, or facilities experience is preferred but not required. Ability to operate custodial equipment and safely use cleaning products. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform frequent bending, standing, climbing, and walking throughout the shift. Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of custodial cleaning methods and sanitation practices. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment. Work Schedule Full-time Monday through Friday 1:30 p.m.- 10:00 p.m.
- Occasional overtime or schedule adjustments may be required for special events, emergencies, or inclement weather.
