A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Full time, Monday - Friday, 7am 4pm with possible evening and weekend hours for special events.
JOB SUMMARY
The Custodian will support the efficient operation of all spaces at 80 Pitt with an eye for detail and a strong sense of ownership. The Custodian is responsible for daily maintenance and upkeep of all bathrooms, common spaces and classrooms at 80 Pitt Street. This includes garbage removal, floor care, and general cleaning. In addition, the Custodian supports the programs with event set up and room set up as directed by the Facilities Manager or OAC Manager, as needed.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Must have a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).Previous youth based/school/community center security experience a plus.

Previous experience working with a diverse population. The ideal candidate must be personable, energetic, and enthusiastic.

Candidates must successfully complete the following: NYSDOH Fingerprinting Screening; New York State Clearance Review Background Check; three (3) Reference Checks; Physical with updated TB Test (Fees may apply).Valid CPR/AED Pro-certification through recognized accrediting body preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain the safety and appearance of the building to the highest standard, including: Dusting and cleaning all surface areas, fixtures, and furnitureVacuuming, sweeping, and mopping flooringRestocking, cleaning and sanitizing restroomsTrash collection and removalAddressing spills and trip hazards Clearing debris from exterior walkways and roof areasOrganize and restock cleaning supplies.

Execute room and event set up, including tables, chairs, food prep stations, etc. Responds to building-related emergencies as directed by the Facilities Manager. Maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, program participants, families, community members and program staff.

Provide above duties at 175 Delancey Street, when requestedOther duties and projects as assigned.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must be able to sit or stand for long periods, climb stairs, lift or move up 50 lbs.
