Job Description

Environmental Service Technician works under the Director of Environmental Services; and is immediately supervised by the Transport Escort/Courier/Mail-Messenger and Environmental Services Supervisors. The Environmental Service Technician provides safe, courteous and timely "Patient Centered" care of patients, cleaning patient care areas, transporting patients, patient equipment and patient related supplies throughout Holzer Health System.
High School Diploma or GED:
1-2 years of experience in the following areas Housekeeping, Courier Driver, Patient Transport, Laundry or Mailroom accepted in lieu of a High School Diploma/GED.
  • On the job training must be completed. All training requirements must be completed within 90 days of hire. In the event this does not occur pay will remain at the current entry level pay grade as an Environmental Services Aide, Patient Transporter, Courier Driver, Laundry Tech, and Mailroom Aide.
  • Current Healthcare CPR certification or must be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Validated competency: o with 3 weeks of training on 3-4 established Courier routes within 1st 90-days of hire.
o with 2-4 weeks training in inpatient Transport within 1st 90-days of hire. o with 4 weeks training on established cleaning schedules within 1st 90-days of hire. o must obtain CHEST Certification within 1st 90-days of hire. o must successfully complete a DOT physical at hire o proper lifting/transferring of patients is required within the 1st 90-days of hire. o in basic respiratory therapy equipment is required within the 1st 90-days of hire. o in the proper cleanup procedures of hazardous chemicals and pharmaceuticals with in the 1st 90-days of hire.
