A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position is to provide custodial services in maintaining County buildings in a clean, orderly, and safe manner. This position performs cleaning duties and informs management of repair needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job duties satisfactorily. Collects and disposes of trash and debris. Collects, sorts, and disposes of recyclables. Provides general custodial maintenance of assigned county buildings and facilities, to include Westminster Library. Performs various custodial duties in restrooms such as cleaning sinks, toilets, and urinals. Restocks all paper products in restrooms. Vacuums and cleans carpet floors. Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, and buffs tile floors. Cleans interior and exterior windows. Moves furniture and equipment as directed. Disposes of furniture and equipment as directed. Notifies management of needed repairs. Notifies management of needed supplies. Supervises inmates from detention center and/or individuals performing community service by assisting with custodial duties. Maintains County owned vehicle. Notifies management of any concerns with vehicle. Performs other related duties as assigned.
