JOB OVERVIEW
To represent the highest standard of excellence in kitchen cleanliness and organization. Ensuring that the kitchen, appliances, glassware, plates, flatware, service ware, and misc. items are maintained, cleaned, organized and kept in their proper location. The kitchen Steward will maintain a proper level of clean inventory according to the sanitation code.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for cleanliness and storage of food service equipment. Training of new dish washers on cleaning & property standards of the dish machine, kitchen, etc. Oversee and give direction of workload to other dishwashers in the kitchen. Keep dish machine clean and serviced, with proper amounts of chemicals for optimum cleanliness of dishes. Wash dishes, dishware, pots, pans, trays, utensils and other kitchen and food service equipment. Responsible for entire daily cleaning of kitchen. Floors, walls and standing equipment, Etc. Responsible for return of all dishware and equipment to designated areas each shift. Help kitchen staff put away inventory when deliveries arrive. Remove and break down boxes, keeping kitchen area free of garbage. Properly store all cleaning supplies and equipment, i.e. mops, buckets, cleaning chemicals, etc. Follow all safety procedures at all times. Assist prep cook as assigned, prepping or putting away stock. Perform any other duties specified by manager or supervisor. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Education:
High school graduation or equivalent.
Experience:
Previous experience in event hospitality preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
(KSA):
Knowledge:
Knowledge of kitchen cleanliness and basic organization preferred. Must be able to become familiar and proficient using the kitchen equipment and machinery.
Skills:
Working in a fast paced work environment. Self-motivated. Customer service oriented.
Abilities:
Ability to handle high heat and moisture. Ability to follow directions and communicate effectively. Ability to lift and move products.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Flexible with hours and schedule. Must be able to work weekends, nights, holidays, and overtime as needed. Must become familiar with and work with all kitchen equipment and machinery. Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment background check prior to starting the position.
