This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety standards within a dynamic restaurant environment. As a Sushi Helper, you will support chefs and kitchen staff in delivering high-quality meals while maintaining a clean, organized workspace that adheres to all safety and hygiene regulations. Your energy and attention to detail will help ensure our guests enjoy authentic sushi experiences every time. Duties Assist with preparing ingredients such as slicing fish, vegetables, and other sushi components using proper knife skills and slicing techniques Support the assembly of sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes following established recipes and presentation standards Operate kitchen equipment safely, including knives, rice cookers, refrigeration units, and other necessary tools Maintain cleanliness of the work area by regularly cleaning utensils, surfaces, and equipment in accordance with food safety protocols Help with meal preparation for dine-in or catering events, ensuring timely delivery of fresh dishes Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow during busy service times Follow all food handling procedures and safety standards to prevent contamination and ensure high-quality food production Requirements Previous experience in a dietary department or food service environment is preferred but not mandatory; eagerness to learn is essential Knowledge of menu planning, food preparation techniques, and culinary practices related to sushi or Japanese cuisine is a plus Strong knife skills and slicing techniques are highly desirable for ingredient preparation Experience operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently is important for maintaining a productive workspace Familiarity with food safety management practices and adherence to safety standards in production environments Ability to work well within a team, communicate clearly with kitchen staff, and follow detailed instructions accurately Prior restaurant or catering experience will be advantageous but is not required; training will be provided for the right candidate Embark on this flavorful journey with us!
