50 an hour 13 hours ago Qualifications CPR Certification BLS Certification Swimming First Aid Certification Teaching AED Certification First aid and CPR Full Job Description Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director/Coordinator and in accordance with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Swim Instructor is responsible for teaching swim lessons according to YMCA of the USA program standards.

Principle Activities:
Teach swim lessons according to YMCA of the USA standards Create a positive learning environment through personal enthusiasm Be safety-conscious, maintain order and enforce rules during lessons to ensure swimmer safety Keep accurate records of attendance and skills achieved by each student, each session. Provide each student with written records of progress Use swim aids effectively to maximize each individual's practice time Utilize written lesson plans for each lesson to make the most efficient use of class time. Participate in all staff meetings and in-service training Conduct program evaluations. Carries out additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
Must be at least 16 years old Must successfully complete, and maintain current certification, as a YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor (24 hours) prior to teaching alone or within 90 days if a current Red Cross Swim Instructor Current status in the following certifications, to be renewed annually: Professional Level CPR First Aid Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Oxygen Administration Must complete the following trainings before working first shift and are to be renewed annually: Blood Borne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention. Must complete YMCA of Greater Charlotte New Staff Connection prior to employment Must complete I Create Loyalty Training within 30 days of hire Must successfully complete at least 4 hours teaching under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Director/Coordinator or an experienced instructor before leading a class independently Must present a professional, mature image, and have excellent interpersonal communication skills
Physical Requirements:
Walking Squatting Pushing (50 lbs) Kneeling Sitting Crouching Stooping Pulling (50 lbs) Vision Vocal Projection Standing Carrying(50 lbs) Lifting (50 lbs)
Hearing Working Conditions:
Indoor or outdoor pool environment with warm, humid conditions. Physically active role requiring standing, swimming, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Exposure to pool chemicals and chlorinated water. Frequent engagement with children, families, and staff in a dynamic setting. Must be able to maintain focus and supervision for extended periods.
