In this role, your attention to detail and commitment to safety will contribute to infection control and the overall well-being of everyone in the facility. You will play an important part in keeping healthcare areas sanitary, organized, and ready to support quality patient care. Responsibilities Clean and disinfect patient rooms, treatment areas, operating spaces, offices, hallways, and other facility areas according to established healthcare cleaning procedures. Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute linens, uniforms, and other laundry items while following proper sanitation standards. Use housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor machines, buffers, and steam-cleaning equipment safely and effectively. Follow established procedures for the safe handling, storage, labeling, and disposal of cleaning chemicals. Perform regular checks of assigned areas to identify sanitation concerns and ensure cleaning standards are consistently maintained. Safely move furniture, supplies, equipment, and other materials while using appropriate lifting and handling techniques. Complete accurate documentation of cleaning duties, chemical use, inspections, and safety-related activities. Follow infection prevention, workplace safety, and environmental services policies at all times. Respond promptly to cleaning and sanitation requests from patients, staff, and visitors. Qualifications and Skills Familiarity with OSHA workplace safety requirements and safe chemical-handling practices. Previous housekeeping, custodial, or environmental services experience, preferably in a hospital, clinic, or other healthcare setting. Knowledge of proper cleaning, disinfecting, sanitation, and infection-control procedures. Ability to operate various cleaning tools and machinery safely and efficiently. Understanding of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and precautions when working with cleaning chemicals. Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform tasks involving bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established procedures consistently. Friendly, professional communication skills with a service-oriented approach toward patients, visitors, and healthcare staff. Dependable, organized, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
