COMPENSATION
$23.75/hour The base salary or hourly wage range for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. Role:
The Meat Prep role is responsible for preparing and processing proteins and related food items in a high-volume commissary kitchen. This role ensures all products are trimmed, portioned, and processed according to standardized specifications while maintaining strict adherence to food safety and HACCP protocols. The position supports efficient production through proper equipment operation, sanitation, and production line setup and breakdown. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and committed to producing consistent, high-quality products in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Functions:
Prepare and process proteins and other food items by trimming, portioning, and handling according to established specifications and production standards Operate processing equipment (e.g., grinders, mixers, slicers) safely and efficiently to meet production needs Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of tools, equipment, and workstations in accordance with food safety standards Set up and break down production lines to support daily operations and ensure workflow efficiency Monitor equipment performance, perform basic upkeep, and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns Follow all HACCP and food safety procedures, ensuring proper handling, storage, and labeling of products Inspect raw materials and finished goods to identify and report quality issues or inconsistencies
JOB REQUIREMENTS
: Valid Food Handler's Card (or ability to obtain within required timeframe) Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity standards Availability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate basic information clearly Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including extended standing and lifting Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, including recipes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Preferred Requirements:
Basic cooking knowledge and knife skills Experience with commercial food production equipment Familiarity with HACCP and food safety standards Basic computer or tablet proficiency Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Essential Functions:
Stand and walk for extended periods, up to the duration of the shift Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead Lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 50 pounds Perform repetitive hand and arm motions Safely operate tools and equipment, including knives, blades, mixers, and grinders Adhere to workplace safety standards and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Work in varying environmental conditions, including wet surfaces and temperature fluctuations (hot and cold environments) Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production needs and safety concerns
